Brian grew up in Cottage Grove where he began playing soccer. He played through the local recreational league before competing through Kidsports. He joined another club team before competing with one of the first club teams for EMFC, 92 Dynamo. He spent 4 years on Cottage Grove High School varsity where he won four league titles and a State Championship in 2008. In college, he played for the University of Jamestown for 3 years before stepping away due to head injuries.
He began coaching as a JV/Assistant at Cottage Grove High School, where he spent 4 years. After coaching at the high school level, he transitioned to working with middle school kids in Cottage Grove, gathering a group of players to compete through Kidsports. Brian started with one team and currently has two 7th-8th grade teams and one 5th-6th grade team. He has coached for several years through the local recreational league in Cottage Grove’s South Valley Athletics. Additionally, Brian spent 5 years as a board member for South Valley Athletics helping to improve the quality of sports in Cottage Grove area.
