James grew up in Topanga Canyon, near Los Angeles. He attended and played soccer for Palisades High School. Following that, he completed a double major in English and Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He moved to Seattle in 2015, after graduating.
James began coaching club soccer with Seattle Celtic in 2016. James coached at Celtic for four years in a variety of age groups. Following his move to Eugene in the summer of 2020, James was hired to coach the girls JV team at South Eugene High School. In 2021, James took over as head coach of the Varsity Girls Soccer program. James began coaching with EMFC in January 2022.
James is a big supporter of the US men’s and women’s national teams. His current favorite players to watch are Lindsay Horan and Weston McKennie.
