2024-25 Winter Program Information
Registration is now open for Winter 2024/25: https://www.emfc.org/registration/
The EMFC Little Metros Program Winter Program aims to provide a fun and positive learning environment for young soccer players by going indoors during the cold months and introducing them to the sport of futsal. Futsal is the FIFA approved indoor soccer format that is played on a court surface, with a ball that has a reduced bounce. This format is super fun, and asks of players new movements, forms of control, and variability that also transfer to the outdoor game.
Winter Little Metros Program runs for the first 3 weeks of December on Monday & Thursday evenings (one hour sessions, 5-6pm and 6-7pm), and then 3 weeks in January on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.
Indoor Winter Little Metros is open to players from birth years 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018.
Cost:
- Little Metros (2018, 2017, 2016 & 2015s) – $130
- $25 sibling discount applied at registration.
Upcoming 2025 Spring Program Information
Fall and Spring programs both run for six weeks. Players practice twice per week on either Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays. There are five game days that take place on Fridays. Fall & Spring program participants receive an EMFC t-shirt and a grey game shirt for Friday Game Days.
Ages:
- Mini Metros – birth years 2020 & 2019
- Little Metros – birth years 2015, 2016, 2017, & 2018.
Mini Metros practice sessions will often consist of tag, chase, and soccer games in which each player has their own ball and can develop their skills in a fun environment where they are kept moving and playing. We start progressively introducing the competitive game more and more to them over the six weeks.
Little Metros practice sessions we use the US Soccer Grassroots practice model of Play-Practice-Play. When players arrive at the practice fields, small-sided games will be set up to get players playing right away. EMFC coaches will then guide players through a core activity which will introduce and encourage the emergence of new soccer-specific skills in these young players.
Both programs are run by EMFC coaches and players within the club under the direction of Aden Farina-Henry.

Friday Game Day Information (Fall & Spring seasons only)
Game Days are focused on maximizing player enjoyment of playing and providing opportunities for players to express themselves creatively in a positive environment. The LM Director and staff will do their best to form teams that are balanced and allow for quality games in which learning and positive experiences are had by all players.
Our Game Days are more informal than many youth soccer games — we do not assign coaches to each team, rather our coaches and ETFC player volunteers help to facilitate the games by acting as referees & guiding the game and substitutions. Teams are formed by combining players from both Mon/Wed and Tue/Thur age groups. We limit our coaching from the sidelines and will address the teams at half-time to discuss the game. Many players have played with us before, but many are also new and are still learning the rules of out-of-bounds, directionality, restarts, and so forth. We will help to teach players as they experience these aspects of the game.
Formats:
- Mini Metros – 2v2 or 3v3 on a smaller field to small goals. There are no goalkeepers and each field will have a referee facilitator. Games will start at 4:30pm on Fridays.
- The younger Little Metros will play 3v3 on a larger field to small goals. There are no goalkeepers and each field will have a referee facilitator. Teams will play four 9 minute quarters and have a short break between quarters. Games will start at 5:15pm on Fridays.
- The older Little Metros groups will play 5v5 on a larger field, with larger goals, and a goalkeeper for each team. Each game will have a referee facilitator and games will be played over two halves of 20 minutes each. Games will start at 6:00pm on Fridays.
