U15-19 Competitive 2 Program

Eugene Metro FC seeks to provide an organized, meaningful, and exciting soccer experience for each of our players and teams.

EMFC places a high premium on providing our players with all the fundamentals in each of the soccer pillars (Physical, Technical, Tactical and Psycho-social) We want to develop confident and proactive players who enjoy a passion for the game. In addition, we believe in the core values of commitment, community and confidence.

Player Selection

There will be an annual tryout in May. Players will be selected in their birth year. The tryout is an initial selection process that coaches over the course of the season continue to ensure that players are placed in the appropriate environment for their development. In these age group we will create a team based training environment. Teams in this age group will play 11v11.

Program Calendar

In the summer, we will train 2-3 times per week (Mon-Wed and every other Frid) with appropriate breaks in the summer. Training sessions will be two 100 minutes sessions and one 90 minutes session. We will plan for 1-2 summer tournaments in Oregon.

The Competitive 2 boys and girls will play at the appropriate level in the OYSA statewide leagues or Central Region league. After league play in January through March, the teams will participate in either Founders or Presidents Cup. The season will end in early May.

Program Objectives

The Competitive 2 Teams coaching staff follows a progressive curriculum to provide learning opportunities and challenges for all players. The program prepares players for the highest and most competitive level of play. The commitment level and for those teams is a bit smaller. Travel commitment is for 1-2 summer tournaments in Oregon, and league play is closer to Eugene.
EMFC coaches will use the EMFC player centered curriculum to train players and teams in a fun but challenging environment. Coaches will challenge each player to achieve their playing goals and discover their potential. Through a fun atmosphere coaches will work with each player to improve their individual strengths and help them become a positive contributor to their team.

Game tactics, technical skills, decision making, training intensity, commitment, and fitness will be implemented to train players how to compete at a high level to transition to the full year programs. Ultimately, we hope to push our Competitive 2 players to compete on the Competitive 1 team.
